WHAT IS IMMERSIVE THEATER/ WHAT DO WE MEAN BY IT?
It follows the basic tenets of theater in that it tells a story, has characters you empathize with and care about, and has a story arc and purpose. Where it differs than traditional theater is that you are physically in the world of the show, not just watching it. You are a character in that story, not just identifying with them. It’s visceral, personal and intense.
OKAY, SO IS IT SCARY?
Uh, yeah, That’s the idea.
DO WE GO IN ALONE?
No, you go in with others, although we are very serious about the title of the production, so it won’t really matter. But the groups are a firm 5 people. If you have a group larger than 5 people we will divide you up so they are right on your heels. But there is absolutely no getting around the 5 people in a group. it is technically impossible. No sweet talk will make the impossible possible.
WILL WE BE TOUCHED?
There will be some thematic physicality, but nothing violent. That’s not the point of this.
IF WE CAN’T SEE, WHAT ARE WE DOING THEN?
Well, some of that is what you will discover when you get there, but in a nutshell, you will be wearing a headset that allows you to hear all of the characters around you. Most of the time you interact with them. You physically find your way by following what we are calling ‘umbilicals.’ As they are to babies, those are your life lines.
WILL WE BE USING THE SENSE OF TASTE? IF YES, IS IT VEGAN?
Yes, all of your senses except sight. And it will be vegan friendly.
IS IT HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE?
For the most part, absolutely
CAN I CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?
There are absolutely no cancellations. You will not be reimbursed. We know this sounds like a hardcore policy, but this has a finite audience and we predict it will be a very popular event. If you want to cancel and we can’t resell it because people thought that show was already sold out, you not only didn’t make us money, you have now lost us money. Now, we do have an option when purchasing your ticket to buy what is basically rescheduling insurance. For $5 more it allows you the ability to reschedule as late as 8 hours before your scheduled time. Still no cancellations, sorry.
WHEN DO I SHOW UP?
Ideally you show up 10 minutes before your showtime on the day you purchased them for. Any more than 20 minutes after your show start time and you will not be allowed in. Nor will you receive a refund. You will have an hour slot, but you could go anytime during that hour depending on when you get there. if your start time is 8 pm, for example, you would go sometime between 8 and 8:59.
HOW LONG IS THE SHOW?
From start to finish approximately 45 minutes, but plan on it being as long as an hour.
WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?
There are some effects that will get you a little wet. We will offer ponchos if you so choose. We would like for you to consider wearing something with pockets. You will have a small remote receiver for your headsets and it would be easier for you to just put it in there.
You will be walking a fair amount, so wear sensible shoes. Don’t wear your expensive going out clothes. You will not be able to see anyone anyway, and they won’t be able to see you.
DO YOU HAVE TICKETS YOU COULD MAIL US?
No, we only e-mail you your ticket confirmation. Please bring it with you to the box office.
DO YOU HAVE A STUDENT RUSH?
Yes. 30 minutes before every performance we have $20 tickets for students with IDs. You still need to have a parent with you if you are between the age of 12-15. 16 or older can just show their IDs.
